Question

I'm getting this error message..."An unexpected error occurred while accepting your downloaded transaction." How do I fix this? I can't categorize my transactions.

If you’re encountering the error message “An unexpected error occurred while accepting your downloaded transaction” in QuickBooks Online, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

 

Verify Bank Account Information:

  • Confirm that the bank account information in QuickBooks matches the details on file with your bank.
  • Go to the Banking tab, select the problematic account, and click the pencil icon to edit the account information.
  • Verify the bank account number, routing number, and other details. Make any necessary corrections and save the changes.

Update Bank Connection:

  • If the issue persists, update your bank connection. This can help resolve connectivity or outdated information problems.
  • Go to the Banking tab, select the account, and click the Update button in the upper right corner.
  • Follow the prompts to update your bank connection, which may involve logging in to your bank’s website or providing additional information.

Manually Download Transactions:

  • If automatic downloads fail, consider manually downloading transactions from your bank’s website.
  • Log in to your bank account online and download the transactions in a compatible file format (such as .csv or .qbo).
  • Import the downloaded file into QuickBooks.

Exclude and Enter Refunds Manually:

  • If the issue persists, exclude the problematic transaction temporarily.
  • Manually enter the refund transaction into your credit card register.
  • The downloaded transaction should eventually switch from “add” to “match” status.

Contact QuickBooks Support:
