Hi there,

Keeping copies of your important financial information is a good idea, and will help you feel much more organized if you're closing your business. I'd hate to see you go, but I realize that you need to make the choice that's best for you and your company. I'll explain what to do with your QBO data if you need to cancel the account.

It's important to note is that once cancelled, you'll have read-only access to your QuickBooks Online account for 365 days. This will take off some of the pressure to get everything done right away. I know how busy you must be, so this is an awesome benefit.

While QuickBooks Online doesn't directly allow you to export the entire company file, you're welcome to explore some of the third-party apps that can be integrated with QBO. Here's where you can find them: QuickBooks Apps.

You can also consider exporting some of the most important parts of your QuickBooks Online account by clicking the Gear icon > Export data. Here's a list of everything that can be directly exported from QBO:

  • General Ledger
  • Profit and Loss
  • Balance Sheet
  • Trial Balance
  • Journal Report
  • Customers
  • Employees
  • Suppliers

I'd also recommend reviewing this article for more information about creating backups: Do I need to back up my data with QuickBooks Online? This article is more geared towards the protection and security of your account, but you may find it useful as well.

I hope this helps. If you need any additional support as you go through the process of closing your account, please don't hesitate to reach out to our tech support team.

Have a great day.
