Question

If I want expenses all recorded in Canadian dollars, but I have receipts from the United States that I want converted to Canadian Dollars, do I need to turn on the Multicurrency feature?

Hey there Eleven Creative,

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! Thanks for reaching out to us here. QuickBooks Online is a great software to have. It has various features that can make running your business smoother. I would be happy to provide some information.

Multicurrency is one of the many great features that are available within QuickBooks. This feature gives you the ability to record transactions in foreign currencies. In order to be able to record transactions in foreign currencies, the Multicurrency feature must be enabled within QuickBooks. Follow the steps below to enable Multicurrency:

*NOTE* Once you enable the multicurrency feature, there isn't a way to disable it.

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Select Account and settings.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Select Edit in the Currency section and choose your Home Currency.
  5. Select the Multicurrency checkbox and confirm that you understand that you can't undo this option.
  6. Select Save and close.

In addition, Here is a helpful guide that will explain how to set up and use multicurrency. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to us here.
