Importing Inventory Transactions from Excel

We currently use Quickbooks Enterprise Desktop 2019. Does Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise offer a way to import inventory transactions from an Excel file? I see some information on the IIF import. I have downloaded IIF import kit but the more I dig, I can't seem to find any solid info on the spreadsheet format for an inventory transaction.

We are trying to eliminate how much manual entry we do on a daily basis.

You can use TP Importer as a workaround. It's a $199 one time license. If you have a US business credit card or ACH, you can get it for free through a partner.

Importing inventory data from Excel to QuickBooks is only for lists and does not include transactions, @bhaan_TWD. You can utilize the Add multiple/items method to copy and paste your inventory list from Excel part by part and column by column. I'll guide you with the details.

Here's how to import multiple items from Excel:

  1. Go to the Lists menu.
  2. Select Add/Edit Multiple Entries.

Additionally, if a column appears in Excel but not in QuickBooks, it can't be imported. Only columns from the customize option are eligible. The following are the default columns:

  • Item Name
  • COGS account
  • Income account
  • Asset account

Other columns can be added to the selection:

Moreover, check out this article for more details on importing and exporting QuickBooks data with MS Excel files: Import or export MS Excel files.

Furthermore, you can generate a report detailing your business performance, including the things you buy and sell, and the status of your inventory.

I'll be on this thread anytime you require additional assistance when importing inventories into your account, @bhaan_TWD.

Thank you for the response. I was already aware of this feature. I'm interested in the inventory transactions.
