invoices still showing as outstanding but payment as been posted and applied

I deleted an invoice in error that a payment was already applied to.

Once I reposted now it shows double the amounts owing in receive payments and

cant get the file to rebuild to correct the receive payment screen

I'm here to help you with your invoices and payments in QuickBooks. Also, before anything else, may I know what happens when you rebuild the file? Did you encounter any error messages? Any additional details will help.

 

For now, try to open the customer's transaction list and review the invoices and the applied payments. This way we can remove any unnecessary transactions that's causing the problem.

 

To do that, open the customer profile by going to the Customers menu, then Customer Center. Click the name of the client and the transactions will be listed below their information.

 

Look for any duplicate or unapplied payments there. Open the invoices and see if the correct payment is applied. Remove any unnecessary entries. After that, close and reopen QuickBooks and try to receive payments again.
