Question

Invoices - Subtotal with HST

I was able to show a subtotal line on the invoice but is there a way to show the HST on the subtotal?

Basically I have two different sections of the invoices - fees for service and disbursements and need to show each separately and the HST on them separately.

Hi there ADB85,

It's vital that you're able to include all important information within your transactions so that your customers understand the services you've provided them and the amount they owe you. QuickBooks Online is a great tool that allows you to create and send invoices directly from the same software all while entering those transactions in your books. I can provide some information about customizing invoice templates.

There is the ability to customize your invoice template within QuickBooks Online, but there isn't the ability to have it show within two sections with a different subtotal and HST section shown for each one. All line items are listed within one section, and the subtotal, and tax is shown after this section. In order to customize your invoice template in QuickBooks Online, you can navigate to the Gear Icon, then Custom form styles

I can see how being able to have certain sales be separated in different sections within your invoice with their own subtotal and tax would be a feature that would be able to help you keep your sales organized. I recommend you leave feedback in the system by clicking on the Gear Icon, then Feedback. The comments made in that section are taken into consideration by our development team when creating new features for QuickBooks Online.
