Question

Letting staff create their own reports

Good morning all - I work with a group of 25 consultants in 3 discipline lines and have been using QBT for about 6 weeks.  All managers can generate reports to monitor their team members performance- this work great.

The company owner now wants to permit all 25 consultants to generate their own reports so they can monitor their own performance, but not see anyone else's times or reports.

Thoughts how to accomplish this initiative?

Thanks

Hello Phil,

QuickBooks Desktop is a versatile program that makes it easy to manage users on the account. I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction so you can get back to doing what you love.

Based on what you've described, I encourage you to add a user that has a selective user to your account and manually choose what you'd like for them to view. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Company menu, then select Set Up Users and Password and then Set up Users.
  2. Click on Add User...
  3. Enter the User NamePassword, and Confirm Password fields, then select Next.
  4. On the Access for user: (username) window, select which area of QuickBooks the user has access to, then select Next.
    • If you choose Selected areas of QuickBooks, you can customize the restrictions for different areas of the company file for the newly created user by selecting No AccessFull Access, or Selective Access.
  5. Once you're done, select Finish.

I also encourage you to check out this helpful article here that shows you how to add and manage users in QuickBooks Desktop. Let me know if this info helps by leaving a comment below.

I'll be one message away in case you have other questions. Otherwise, I wish you a great rest of the weekend. :)

Good morning James - thanks for the feedback, but not quite what I was looking for.

I would like to have the individual consultants to be able to generate their own reports, to monitor their own time.

At present, I believe that in QB Times only individuals identified as managers can generate these reports.  But if there are other solutions, great.

Thanks

Phil
