Hi Scott115,

Great job making sure the company file was the same and everything was connected properly. Multi user mode is a great feature of QuickBooks Desktop that allows multiple people to log into and work on a company file at the same time. I can help go over the reason the closing dates are different in multi user mode.

There are only two reasons why the closing dates could be wrong when accessing a company file. The first reason you already checked, which would be accessing two different company files. The way to see if you are would be to press F2 on both computers to bring up the product information page, then make sure the location are the same. The second reason would be the date format on the computer. If this is different on one computer than it would cause the closing date to be different. You should make sure they're using the same format on each computer, for example month/day/year. You can access this from your computer settings by following these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Time & language.
3. Click on Date & time.
4. Under format click the Change date and time formats link. (very bottom)
5. Use the Short name drop-down menu to select the date format you want to see in the Taskbar.

Once all the computers have the same date format you'll need to restart QuickBooks by closing and opening it again. Once it starts back up all the dates should match up.

If you continue to have trouble I suggest contacting our support team as they have tools to help walk you through how to make these changes. Their hours of operation can be found here.

Hope this helped.
