Question

Naming an invoice for printing from the Create Invoices Section

In the "create invoices" section at the top, is a print button. Why can I not name my invoice when printing? This button servers no purpose if it only does half the job. I am assuming (hoping) that I am missing something in the process to make this button functional. Any help regarding this would be much appreciated. I know I can go to QB Nav menu >file>and down to print pdf and name the pdf before printing but I cannot understand why I have a button to print on the invoice page that cannot do the same? Do I have something in prefrences turned off or some setting wrong because this does not make any sense to me to have a non-functional print button. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for sharing your invoice printing concern here, @Stare.

The print icon on the invoice works the same way as the option under the File menu. If you selected Microsoft Print to PDF, it will allow you to enter a file name of your preference before printing it.

Have you tried opening a sample file and printing a dummy invoice from there? To open a sample company:

  1. You will see the No Company Open window.
  2. Select the drop down arrow beside Open a sample file.
  3. Choose Sample product-based business.

If the sample file works correctly, go back to the original file and run the Verify/Rebuild Utility. Here's how to do that in QuickBooks:

  1. Go to the File menu then Utilities.
  2. Select Verify Data then wait until the diagnosis is done.
  3. If there are issues, proceed to rebuilding the company file.
  4. Tap File menu and Utilities again.
  5. Use Rebuild Data this time then click OK.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to save a backup.

If the issue still persist after doing the suggestions, I'd recommend that you work with our Technical Support Team again. Our representatives will check your company file and identify what's causing this behavior. To get our Support, follow the steps below:

  1. Open QuickBooks and click the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. On the pop-up screen select Contact us.
  4. Click the Search for Something else button then type your concern in the Ask us anything box.
  5. Press Search then scroll down to get your contact options.

Let me know how it goes. I'll be right here if you need anything else with your invoice printing. I want to make sure this is taken care of. Have a good one!
