Hello there,

Can I filter (in a QuickBooks premier desktop) the attachments particularly non-linked attachments?

Thanks,

Ali

Hello Ali,

It's great to have you with us again and I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I know Monday means back to work for many business owners and bookkeepers, and I'd be happy to help you with your attachments in QuickBooks Desktop Premier.

Whether you add an attachment to a form directly or go through the Doc Centre, the Doc Centre is where you can find each of the attachments linked in your books. The Doc Centre lists the documents and also includes whether or not they're attached to a transaction in your books.

While there isn't a way to filter the attachments, one step you can consider for organizing them to see which are attached and which aren't is by clicking the Attached To column to sort the list. This will group attachments linked to documents together and also group together those that aren't. I'll walk you through it.

  1. Go to the Company menu.
  2. Choose Documents.
  3. Click Doc Centre.
  4. Select the Attached To column to resort the transactions.

The QuickBooks Community has a great article about the Doc Centre that goes over the types of files that can be attached, how it works, and even troubleshooting in case you run into issues. Check it out here: QuickBooks Document Centre: FAQs and common issues

That should get you on your way, but don't hesitate if you've got more questions for me. I've got your back!
