Question

None of my transactions prior to march 2020 are showing up. My account was renewed in March but I had a membership prior to that

Hi there iqbal10,

When you're keeping track of your books, I know how important it is to have access to data from previous years. These are some times necessary for tax purposes, and are just generally good to have on hand. When something goes wrong, it's important to know how you can access your files. I want to give you a hand.

It sounds to me like your previous subscription may have been cancelled at some point, hence why you've needed to renew it. If your previous subscription was for the same company, and you haven't set up a new company, the only reason your data would be missing is because from 365 days after you cancel, your data gets deleted by QuickBooks for security purposes. You would've had access to the data during that 1 year timeframe so that you could export and view the necessary data in read-only mode. If your subscription wasn't inactive for as long as a year, you'll want to consider some other options.

It's possible that your books have been closed, and you're not able to edit older transactions for that reason. If that's the case you can access the Gear, choose Account and Settings and navigate to the Advanced tab. Select the Accounting section to make changes. If your books have been closed, you can change the date here. This shouldn't make your transactions disappear, but is worth checking on.

Another area you should check is the Audit Log. It can be accessed by clicking the Gear icon. Use the Filter dropdown to choose a specific date range or look for specific events. This should tell you if your transactions were deleted, when, and by whom. You may even find enough detail here to recreate entries if necessary.

Since I don't have much more detail to work with, it might be most beneficial for you to reach out to our team of support experts outside of the Community on this. They'll be able to do a screen share with you so that they can follow along and help you get to the bottom of this. Here are a few ways you can reach out:
