Packing Slip for free samples

QB2019 Premier

I am trying to print a packing slip from an invoice that has one line item with a cost per part.  But, I also have another line item for a part that is a free sample to the customer so the invoice shows quantity of 1 with a Price Each of $0.00 and an amount of $0.00.  I see both line items on my monitor but when I try to print either the packing slip or invoice the line item for the free sample with amount = $0.00 doesn't  show up.

So, the basic questions is how to create a packing slip for free samples?

    I can share some insights on how you can add samples in your invoices. When you create samples, you can set them up as inventory or non-inventory with 0 cost ad sales price. Then, when you assign the items to the invoice, add the quantity. See the following screenshots for your guide:

    I tried what you suggested but still having the same problem.  However, I did find a solution.  It's an obscure setting in Preferences that prevents items with zero cost to be printed.

    To change: Sign in as Administrator

    Go to Preferences / Jobs & Estimates / Company Preferences 

    Uncheck the box that reads "Don't print items that have zero amount"
