Pay Bills

Hello,

Any way to  get the Pay Bills window to show the payment terms?

Getting into trouble with bills that are credit card.

We do not "pay" them until we reconcile with the credit card statement so they show up on the screen and we have to remember if they are credit card terms so we do not accidentally send a cheque.

That has proven to not be 100% effective.

Hi Pixus_waterloo,

Welcome to the Community. QuickBooks Desktop is a powerful program that enables you to  get your work done faster. I'll be glad to share more info about setting up payment terms so you're on the right track with your work.

Based on what you've described, it's important to make sure the payment terms have been set up on your account. Here's how you can set them up on your end.

  1. Navigate to Lists at the top, then Customer & Supplier Profile Lists, followed by Terms List.
  2. From the Terms dropdown, choose New
  3. Pick a name for the payment tern, then select from either Standard for a payment due within a specific number of days from the invoice date, or Date Driven to enter a specific day of the month that the payment is required by
  4. Click OK to finish or Next to create additional payment terms.

This article is a great resource as it provides more information about this process: Set up payment terms. Let me know if the info helps. I'll be a message away in case you need additional support.

We know how to set up payment terms.

What we want to be able to do is see them in the Pay Bills window so we do not send a cheque to someone that is on credit card terms.

Hi Pixus_waterloo,

Having the ability to set default payment methods for your vendors is a great idea and a time saving one.  Although QuickBooks Desktop provides the opportunity to enter payment terms, there's currently no option for setting default payment methods.  This is due to the fact that when paying bills, you can select multiple invoices to be paid.  I'd recommend providing your suggestion to our Development Team for future updates.  You can submit a recommendation from the Help menu and then Send Feedback Online.  We appreciate any ideas you may have to improve your overall customer experience with QuickBooks Desktop.  I hope this helps!
