Question

Problem with Bill cost and amount - wrong totals

This is very strange:

I am entering a Bill from a supplier, and after entering the long list of items, I noticed something I have never seen before:

for example, for 1 of item A costing 29.04, the resulting amount shows 29.05

Not all items entered have a cent added.

(see image attached)

When I tested with a quantity of 0 (zero), it showed 0.01$ as the amount.

I backed up the file and ran a "Verify Data", and nothing was found.

What should I try next?

Thank you!

PS: I am using QB2020 the desktop version.

Hi @Mouselette,

Welcome back to the Community! Making sure your bills are entered properly is an important step in your accounting. QuickBooks Desktop is a great tool that keeps track of how much you owe to each of your suppliers. I can provide some assistance.

Damaged data can usually cause this issue when working with your company file. Running Quick Fix My Program from the QuickBooks Tools Hub to repair your file can resolve this case.

To begin with, let's download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub and save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  3. Locate the QuickBooksToolHub.exe file that you downloaded and open it.
  4. Please follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation, then agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

After that, proceed to these steps to run a quick repair on your program:

  1. Choose Program Problems in the tool hub.
  2. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  3. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

If you still encounter the same issue, it might be best to contact QuickBooks Desktop Support for further assistance. They can help diagnose and fix the issue. Refer to this article to learn more about our contact options and support availability: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.

I'll be here if you have any other questions, take care!
