QB Enterprise 2022 multi user no longer works

I have just upgraded from QB Enterprise 2021 to Enterprise 2022 and the multi user access no longer works.

The same setup running Enterprise 2021 worked fine.

Each of the office machines that has QB installed were upgraded to Enterprise 2022.

The QB server is also a user machine. It can run in single user or multi user mode.

The other office machine with QB installed can access the files on the server machine in single user mode. When this second machine tries to change to multi user mode it fails.

I have verified folder sharing, folder properties, user privileges. The QuickBooksDB32 service is running. Under the QuickBooks Utilities menu, on the server, the machine thinks it is running in multi user as it shows "Stop Hosting Multi-User Access".

I could use some additional guidance.

Thanks

I tried all the suggestions from the two replies and nothing worked.

I did get it to work however, but first I had to uninstall QB 2021.

When doing all the various checking I noticed that for some reason the machine still was running  the QuickBooksDB31 service and the QB tool used to check the network thought that was the version it was supposed to be running. QuickBooksDB32 was installed but was not running.

At first I simply tried to stop the DB31 service and start the DB32 service but that didn't make any difference.

I figured I had nothing to lose if I removed the old version of QuickBooks and perhaps that would also remove the old DB31. I removed QB 2021 and rebooted the machine but DB31 still showed in the Windows Services. It was not running, but it said it was there. I started DB32, as it was not running. We are now back running in multi-user mode.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Try creating a dummy file or opening the sample one. Did you encounter the same issue?

Hi rbmitchell.

Multi-user mode is a great tool to let multiple people access the same company file and cut the workload in half. I'd be happy to help you get your multi user mode working again.

Awesome job trying out all those steps to get your QuickBooks Enterprise working in multi user mode. The first thing you should try and do is make sure that you scan the file location with the QuickBooks Database server manager by opening it, select browse, select the company file and hit scan. Once that's done you should also make sure that only the computer that has the company file on it is set up to say Stop Hosting Multi-User Access. If more than one has that option it can cause issues with the set up.

I would also try following the steps in this link to fix the most common multi user errors. If you still run into errors I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can look deeper into this. You can reach out to them by calling the number here.

If you have any questions let us know and we'd be happy to help.

QuickBooks multi-user mode may not function for a number of reasons, including inconsistent network settings. There are other potential causes as well, though. Major examples are listed below:

1- On the server computer, you wouldn't have installed QuickBooks.
2- Antivirus or firewall software is preventing QB from interacting with user systems.
3- Your QuickBooks company file cannot be accessed by QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
4- The permissions on Windows files are incorrectly specified.
5- Incorrect hosting configurations for the desktop version of QuickBooks.
6- When switching to multi-user mode, improper DNS settings might potentially cause QuickBooks to freeze.

Now that you are aware of the many causes of the QuickBooks multi-user mode not syncing error, you can fix the problem by appropriately addressing the causes of the QuickBooks multi-user mode not working. The following is a list of the specific resolution techniques for you:

Check if getting Error (H101, H202, H303, H505)

Hello everybody, I'm in IT and I have been in it for quite some time. I experienced the same problem going from QuickBooks 2019 contractor Enterprise to 2022. We had absolutely no problems in multi user mode until we upgraded. We check firewall restrictions, antivirus restrictions, no permissions issues  whatsoever! and multi-user would not work!! We spent hours and hours on the phone with multiple support technicians uninstalling and reinstalling, and at one point the company file was missing two years of information, it was crazy!! and still without any resolve. What worked for our situation was: uninstalling previous versions from every QB installed computer, rebooting, then uninstalling 2022 and then rebooting and making sure that DB 32 is not in running or in services, or any previous QB database manager. Then install 2022 on the host system first, download the most recent tool hub, and run the network fix before trying to open your company file. Once that's complete, open your QuickBooks company file and run all of the updates completely, then run it in multi user mode. Then install QuickBooks 2020 on the other computers per your license.

That's what worked for us, I hope this helps.
