QuickBooks Desktop 2024 mouse issue

The problem started happening a few weeks ago on my older Acer Windows 10 Pro desktop computer.

After opening QuickBooks and working for sometime, suddenly, I lose the ability to left click anywhere in Windows except for QuickBooks. I thought it was my old 8th gen i3 Acer computer that was causing the issue. I got a new i5 14th gen PC, and the same problem started happening again with a clean Windows 11 Pro install.

I can use the keyboard shortcuts to navigate the Windows, but the mouse left click is just not responding anywhere, except inside the window of QuickBooks Desktop app. I use the keyboard to reboot the computer and the left mouse button works fine, but the problem comes back if I work with QuickBooks. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks for any tips.

Hi @dimar,

Thanks for reaching out to us here. It's important you're able to navigate the program with ease. Rest assured, I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction.

Based on the details you've shared, I suspect you may be having a company file issue on the account in question. In order to troubleshoot this issue, I recommend using the QuickBooks Tool Hub. The QuickBooks Tool Hub is designed to help fix issues such as the one you've described above. Feel free to check out this article here that shows you how to effectively use the Tool Hub to your advantage.

 Let me know how you make out. I'll be a message away in case you need further.

I run the hub tool on the app, but not on the company dbase files. I'll try it tomorrow.

QuickBooks worked fine for years and the issue just started happening recently out of nowhere.

The only thing that changed recently was that I got a new 4K ultrawide 100Hz monitor. I wonder if it somehow affects the QuickBooks apps.

@dimar

Try opening the sample file. Did you encounter the same problem?

In the end it was the Logitech mouse middle button that got stuck from inside. I'd press it, and the left click would work fine. After some time this would happen again and pressing the wheel button would fix it. I replaced the mouse and there's no issues so far.

The issue has not been solved with a new mouse. Basically I work in QuickBooks, suddenly I can't left click anywhere except in QuickBooks windows. To unfreeze the left click, to work with other windows, I have to press the mouse wheel button.
