Quickbooks took the wrong amount of EI off employees paycheques

When I did the T4s for 2023, I noticed that Quickbooks did not take the right amount of EI for most employees. Most employees should have reached the max EI level but Quickbooks stopped taking EI just short of the max. I can't find any settings that are wrong. The correct amount of CPP was taken. Some are short by a few dollars, some by up to $25. All our tax tables are up to date. Why would it stop taking EI short of the max?

Hi there leanne110,

Thanks for reaching out about your payroll taxes. QuickBooks Desktop Payroll is a great tool able to help you calculate pay for your employees based on the hours they've worked. I can point you in the right direction for assistance with deduction calculations.

For assistance with deductions calculated on your pay, I recommend reaching out to the QuickBooks Desktop support team outside of the Community. They'll be able to view the pay runs with you, as well as the year-end forms and the affected employees' profiles in a secure setting with you to see why the deductions were calculated this way. You can reach them using the methods outlined in the QuickBooks Desktop support policies.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.
