Question

Recurring Transactions

I have 6 to 7 recurring transactions in QBO.  In QB Desktop those transactions automatically populated on the date.  I had 1 yesterday that did not populate.  Is there something that I need to do to make these automatic?  Seems odd that if the date matches they would not automatically go.

Yes, recurring transactions will automatically generate when the type is set to Scheduled, TEBlack. There are factors that contributed to the failure of generation. I'll outline these reasons in detail.

Tasks scheduled for today or earlier will begin on the next scheduled date. For instance, if the template starts on the first of each month and today is the first, it'll start on the first of the next month.

Furthermore, ensure that the credit card linked to recurring sales receipts is active. QuickBooks will skip transactions with expired cards, so regularly check for expirations. Update the card information promptly to keep recurring sales receipts that are scheduled continue to run.

Then, if an item or sales tax code in a recurring template changes, the template should update automatically. However, sometimes errors occur, requiring the sales tax to be re-saved on the template.

In the meantime, to create the needed transaction, we have to "Use" the template. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Choose Recurring transactions.
  3. From the list, find the recurring transaction.
  4. Select Use from the Edit dropdown.
  5. Review the transaction details and add more if needed, then select Save and close.
