Hello,

We had a seasonal employee that finished last month and it was discovered the vacation pay wasn't had on pay cheque in error.  How do I create a  retro-active vacation pay cheque for the time they were employed?

Thank you

Hello JBond7,

QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, enables you to pay out an employees vacation pay and set up an ROE when they move on. I'd be happy to help you with getting your employees vacation pay paid out.

Before you can run payroll, you'll need to rehire them.  You'll remove the release date and ROE code to set them back up as hired. To do this you just need to go to > Employees > Employee center > Select the employee > Employment Information. From there you can run the payroll for the vacation pay. If you already filed the ROE with the CRA you'll need to let them know and file a new one for the employee.  For additional information on how to clear underpaid vacation for an employee no longer with the company, click here.

Should you require additional assistance, I suggest speaking with an accounting professional for their expertise and best course of action. If you don't have an accountant you can find one near you by going to our find an accountant page.

If you have any other questions let us know.  We'd be glad to assist!
