Saving a custom estimate template

I’ve created a custom estimate template for my business. I’m just not sure how to save it under a different name (operational rental quote as opposed to custom estimate template) so I can make different ones for other applications. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Clarkie24,

Great job on creating a custom estimate template for your business. I'm glad you're taking advantage of the awesome features offered in QuickBooks Desktop. I'd be happy to steer you in the right direction with this.

QuickBooks Desktop is a powerful program which helps you streamline your business. Please follow the steps below to edit the template name on your estimate:

  1. Go to the Lists menu and select Templates.
  2. Locate the estimate template, then right-click.
  3. In the Basic Customization window, click the Manage Templates button.
  4. Enter the template name in the Template Name field.
  5. Click OK once finished.

There you go! You now know how to edit your template name. I recommend you to check out this helpful article with more info on: Using and customizing form templates. Let me know if you have other questions by leaving a comment below. I'll be one message away.

Thank you! I do have an additional question.....

ive created my boxes (ones that will contain data that changes from job to job) as a data field under customer message. I now know this is wrong as the test I ran filled all the boxes with the same message. What should I have done differently to be able to input separate data in each box?

No worries. I want to make sure we're on the same page. Could you send me a full screenshot of the boxes you're referring to?
