Thanks for reaching out to us here, QuickBooks Online is a great tool to have, it helps keep your books balanced so that you can continue doing what you love. It's important that you're able to get your transactions in the correct accounts in order for your books to stay balanced. I can provide some information about Asset and Expense accounts.

There isn't a way to add a receipt into an Asset account. Asset accounts are meant for sales that you make. The receipts that you scan would need to go into an Expense or liability account in order for your books to stay clean and balanced. This is why you are unable to add it to an Asset account.
