Hello scott-fifield,

Thanks for sharing details about what's going on when trying to set up taxes in your QuickBooks Online account. Don't worry, I've got some ideas of what might be going on and will help you figure this out.

QuickBooks Online doesn't require you to enter your address in the sales tax settings in order to set it up, so I have a feeling you may be setting up the payroll module instead. If that's the case, errors like this can sometimes occur and it typically just takes a few tricks to get things back in working order.

The first thing I'd like you to do is use the Canada Post website to make sure the address is correct. QuickBooks Online pulls address details such as this from the Canada Post database, so entering the address exactly as seen on the website, even copying and pasting it directly from that site, can help with this setup process. Here's the link you can use: Canada Post Find a Postal Code

The next things to try is to enter the address entirely in capital letters or entirely in lowercase letters. It probably sounds a bit silly, but for whatever reason, the program will sometimes accept the information being entered this way over normal typing.

If you're still having trouble, move on to browser, app, and Internet troubleshooting. The cache plays a big role in whether QuickBooks Online is working properly or not since stored data can affect the way the cloud works. Try these steps.

Once you've made sure the cache is clear, you're using supported browsers, and you have a solid Internet connection, try entering the address again. When all else fails, get in touch with support to work with an agent and let them know what you've tried already. They'll be able to troubleshoot further, then escalate the issue if needed.
