Hi bdwlib-gmail-com,

Thanks for reaching out here.  QuickBooks Online is a dynamic accounting software allowing you to meet your daily bookkeeping goals with peace of mind.  I can see how concerning it would be when there's a notification that something's been made inactive.  I'll be happy to help!

The message you're getting is something frequently noted when working with the payroll feature.  It can be resolved in a few steps, with the first being in the chart of accounts.  Let's start by having a look to see if an account that is associated with payroll has been made inactive.  Here's how:

1. Click on the Gear in the top right and open the Chart of accounts

2. Select the small Gear above the Action column

3. Check the box to Include inactive

4. Scroll through the list of accounts and hit Make active as you see fit

Next, check the account mapping by following these steps:

1. From the Gear, select Payroll settings

2. Under Preferences, hit Accounting

3. Review the associated accounts and make any necessary changes

4. When finished, hit OK

If you require additional assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us so we can look further into this from our end.

Feel free to reach back out with any other questions.  We'd be glad to assist!
