Hi trucarpentry,

Being able to properly track your transactions is what QuickBooks Online is all about. Great job making use of the split transaction feature to make sure your accounts are tracked correctly. I can help you get this fixed so you can continue on with your day.

When trying to save a split transaction and you're getting errors there are two things that can cause this. One reason would be due to your browsers health which can cause QuickBooks Online to not work as it should. To fix this you can clear cache and cookies by following the steps in this article. You can also try using a private browser such as Google chrome's incognito mode. Should that not work, I suggest trying a new browser all together. Another reason could be due to using an account or tax item that doesn't work with what you are trying to do. You can try canceling the entire split transaction and try it again to see if that works.

If you continue to have trouble with applying a split transaction, I suggest contacting our support team as they have tools such a screen sharing where they can walk you through where to go and see if anything was missed. You can get in touch with them by following the steps here.

Have a great day@
