Stat Holiday pay

If an employee worked 8 hours on a stat holiday - am I correct in understanding that I must enter 12 in the payroll screen under the column "Stat Holiday Pay?" (they are eligible for time & half on the stat).

Making sure your staff is paid correctly is a great step towards keeping your books clean in QuickBooks. Rest assured, I'll be glad to provide more info and help steer you along the right path. 

 

It's important to note that you'll need to calculate the hours your employees are eligible to receive based on your province's requirements. Setting up the pay type can be done a just a few simple steps:

  1. From the left menu, select Employees.
  2. Select the employee by choosing their name.
  3. If Stat Holiday Pay is not already added in the Additional pay section under Pay, select the edit pencil beside Pay. 
  4. Scroll the question 3 and select the edit pencil.
  5. Select the Stat Holiday Pay checkbox.
  6. Select Done.

Once that's done, you'll see the statutory holiday pay column when running payroll and this is where you enter your manual calculations (Time and half). Here's a helpful article with more info on: How to add statutory holiday pay as a pay type
