Hello Sue56,

It's great to hear that you're going through your books to make sure all the numbers line up. Doing this ensures accuracy in your records and helps you have a sense of how the business is doing. I'm happy to help make sure your data is what it needs to be in QuickBooks Online.

When you're comparing numbers in the Chart of Accounts against the General Ledger report, one of the most important things to consider is the date range on the report. The ledger in the Accounting tab will show the total to date in the account, whereas a report may only show you a certain period. At the top of the report is the field that allows you to change the date range as needed. The first step I recommend is making sure that it's selected for options such as All or Custom to make sure it's encompassing the information you need, then hit Run Report.

Since the General Ledger report shows balances and transactions from the Chart of Accounts, the transactions between the two areas should match. It doesn't hurt to double-check to make sure that transactions aren't missing between one or the other.

The next step is troubleshooting. I always recommend starting with cache, browser, app, and Internet troubleshooting using the following steps.

Going through these ensures that it's not any of these items affecting the way QuickBooks Online is displaying your information to you. Since it's a cloud software, QuickBooks Online can be affected by these things and it can cause even simple display issues.

Finally, I encourage you to reach out to support if you're still having troubles. An agent would be happy to take a closer look with you, troubleshoot further, and ensure that you get things back in working order. Here are the options.
