Question

The Dashboard displays results using "Cash" accounting whereas I use Accrual. Can we change the Dashboard to Accrual accounting?

Hello johnlevasseur1,

QuickBooks Online's Dashboard is a useful first glance at your business's finances when logging into your account. Having the figures show with the accounting method you're using is ideal so that things are as crystal clear as possible. I can help you with this.

The Dashboard displays data based on the accounting method chosen in your account's settings. It's easy to switch between cash and accrual to fix this, and I'd be happy to show you the steps.

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Account and settings.
  3. Navigate to the Advanced tab.
  4. Click the Accounting section.
  5. Choose Accrual from the Accounting method drop-down menu.
  6. Click Save.

Now, when you click Done to exit out of the settings and return to the dashboard, you should see the amounts based on accrual accounting. This article explains the accounting method and links you to more information about how it impacts how things are displayed and calculated in QuickBooks Online: Change your accounting method

Here's an article to get you better acquainted with the Dashboard: An introduction to the home dashboard. You may also see the Cash Flow chart on the Dashboard, which you can learn more about here: How QuickBooks calculates your cash flow

I hope that helps!
