Tracking Inventory on Pending sales

Is there a way to include the inventory needed for pending sales in any of the inventory reports?  I see that there are ways to include inventory that has been ordered but not yet received; it would seem logical to have a report for inventory committed to a sale but not yet invoiced.

Hi there, @lawrenanne1. Yes, there's a way to include the inventory needed for pending sales on your inventory reports. I'm here to share with you how.

To get started, you can use Sales Order to record the sale that you want to fulfil in the future. From there, enter the required details such as the item, quantity, amount and others.

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) file.
  2. Go to the Customers tab, then click on Create Sales Orders.
  3. Fill in the details.
  4. Save the transaction.

Once done, open your inventory report and check the quantities on hand, on a sales order, PO, and others.

When you're ready to record your sale, click on Create Invoice from the Create Sales Order window.

You can get more tips while tracking your sales entries in QBDT from this article: Create an invoice in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you need help adjusting your inventory quantities and value in the future, use this link as your reference: Adjust your inventory quantity or value in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have any other questions about your inventory, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help. Keep safe!

It's my understanding that QB Pro Desktop doesn't have sales orders, just pending invoices?
