Question

Transferring a client from another accountant using different versions of QB

As a QB Online accountant, how do I transfer a client from an accountant who is using QB Desktop?  QB Support tells me that one of us accountants will need to purchase Online or Desktop to make the transfer.  The client doesn't have QB, it is all handled through accountants.

Hey there bluejay21,

Thanks for reaching out to us here. Making sure you get the support you need is important. I would be happy to point you in the right direction for the best assistance.

Based on what you've described, I feel you'd benefit more by contacting our support team outside of the Community as we would need a bit more information from you. They'll be able to verify your account details in a secure setting, as well as view your screen to better assist you. You can reach them by following one of these methods:

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
Social Media: Facebook and Twitter

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.

@bluejay21

Ask your client to ask their old accountant to share their backup file of their QB Desktop file. Then you can use the trial license for QB Desktop to restore the backup file and convert it to QB Online. Otherwise, you can purchase a 3rd party service to convert the file if required.
