Unique Identifier URL

Hi there,

 

I wanted to see if QB online has a unique identifier in URL form that is created when an account is setup. I would assume something like this exists and is mapped once you sign in.

 

I am looking for this as I think the desktop app can be directed to that URL to open so that your online data is synchronized with the desktop stuff as it seems somewhat inconvenient to have to export and import all the time, unless I've missed something in the FAQ's I've read so far.

Hello rentalrepair,

 

The beauty of using QuickBooks Online is that it gives you the ability to access your data from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection. I love that you want to make sure your data is synchronized. I want to make this easier for you.

 

If you're using the desktop app for QuickBooks Online and have logged in using the same credentials as you use from your internet browser, your data will automatically be synchronized. If you're accessing the same company, you'll be accessing the same data and there's no need to export and import data. In fact, importing data into the same company after it's already been entered may cause duplicate transactions.

If however, you've been moving data from your QuickBooks Online account to your QuickBooks Desktop file, which is a separate program, then what you've been doing to export your data is the correct process to follow. There isn't a way to enter a URL into QuickBooks Desktop to synchronize the data with what's been entered in QuickBooks Online.
