Question

Viewing Transaction detail accounts with non-zero balances

I'm trying to customize a report, I have a few Trust accounts and I need to see their balances by customer.

I'm doing this using the Transaction detail by accounts report - filtering by distribution account (4 accounts) and grouping by customer.

My issue is I want to see the customers with nonzero balances - is there a way I can filter this or is there another report to use.

Thanks.

Hi Question878,

Being able to track customer balances is something every business has to do. QuickBooks Online makes it easy having multiple customer reports to find just what you are looking for. I'd be happy to help go over reports and how to customize them.

The best report to find the information you are looking for would be the Transaction Detail by Accounts report. As for filtering it to show only customers with a balance you'd need to customize the report by following the steps in this article. I suggest trying the amount filter to see if that works for you. If this doesn't show you the information you're looking for you can also export the Transaction Detail by Accounts report to excel and edit it on there as well. To export your report to excel you can follow these steps.

  1. Select Reports.
  2. Search for and select the report you want to export.
  3. At the top of the report, select the Export icon. Then select Export to Excel.
  4. Save the file somewhere you can easily find, like your Downloads folder or your desktop.

If this is a feature you wish to be able to customize in more detail I suggest sending feedback to our developers by following these steps:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions then select Next.
  3. You'll be provided a list of suggested Help articles related to your comment. You can read through them or select Skip and send message.
  4. From the drop-down, choose the appropriate category, then select Send message.

Also If you have further questions I'd recommend contacting our support team using one of the following options.

Schedule a Callback or Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat. Support is available from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.

Social MediaFacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

Hope this was able to help!
