Question

We had insufficient funds for payroll due to a customer NSF cheque. I added funds on the weekend to cover this so how do I now gain access to my payroll today.

Hi RALambert,

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online Payroll is a great way to pay your employees with peace of mind.  We understand that there are times when things happen outside of your control and we have you covered.  I'll be happy to provide more information so you can get back to what you love!

When a direct deposit is returned, an email is sent to the Principal Officer listed on the account with details of what to do.  When a notice is received from your bank a re-debit is attempted for the amount due.  This is performed on the same day the notice is received.  Your payroll feature is placed on hold for 5 business days to ensure the funds are debited.  You'll receive another email to confirm if this was successful or not.  If it's successful, you won't need to take further action and the hold will be removed so you can continue to process payroll.  Should it fail, please review this guide for the required steps and detailed instructions.

If you require additional assistance, feel free to contact us so we can look further into this from our end.
