webmail authorization

How do I fix the error:

There seems to an issue with webmail authorization. Read about the steps on how to resolve this.

 

I have been sending invoices with my google email account using enhanced security with QBDT 2020 for over a year now. I updated to QBDT 2021 and now when I try to email invoices it fails with the error above.

 

I deleted the email account in QB and when I try to add a new one. I provide my email address, select Gmail, Enhanced security is checked.  I get the prompt to ensure enhanced security of your gmail data, click on Continue, then immediately get the error stated above. It won't open the browser to authenticate my intuit ID or Google account.

 

I have been sending invoices using this email account with QBDT 2020 for over a year. I have my Intuit account and I have allowed access with my google account.

 

How do I fix this?

Please don't tell me to contact intuit support.  I tried that, they are useless.

It's good to see that you've already been in touch with QuickBooks Desktop support, but I can appreciate how the issues still being unresolved would impact your situation. Our goal is always to do what we can to find answers to problems, and I want to make sure you're able to get set up with Gmail in QuickBooks Desktop 2021.

 

I see how having the setup work in the 2020 software but not the 2021 version would be confusing. I suspect the step you refer to in the beginning of your question are from this article: Gmail couldn’t sign you in from QuickBooks Desktop. If not, however, I encourage you to read through that now to troubleshoot what might be causing the issues with your QuickBooks Desktop and Gmail connection.

 

Another option you can try is to uncheck the Use enhanced security box. While this is the recommended option as noted in the product, it can sometimes cause issues with setting up the email with QuickBooks Desktop. Try continuing the setup without checking off that option and see if it makes a difference.
