What options other than sending License or Passport to recover account

QB is asking for my employees Drivers License or Passport to change password??? Isn't that illegal? Are there any other options?

  1. Go to our sign-in help page.

  3. Input the verification code received, or follow the message's instructions. We might request additional information to verify your identity.
  4. When prompted, either reset your password or Skip.

 

However, if you no longer have access to your phone or email on file, submit a clear photo or scan of another government-issued ID or a notarized document showing your name and address. Once prepared, go to the I lost access to my phone or email address section then fill out the form by clicking the Recover my account button.

That answer makes no sense. If I have fired an employee, QB will allow the fired employee to have access, but not me as the owner. What if I don't know what they changed the password and phone number to? ... This is crazy.  Secondly, the Gov't says to NEVER give passport info away, and a drivers license has personal information on it that no employee should have to share with a outside vendor on our companies behalf.

 

Why can't I, as the primary administrator, and owner, change passwords as I see fit?

First off, since you mentioned that you are the primary administrator of the business, can you please confirm whether you are also the primary admin on your company file? If yes, you have the ability to delete or remove an employee from your company file to prevent their future access. To do so, you can follow the steps below:
 

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon or Setting.
  2. From the Settings menu, select Manage Users. This will take you to a page where you can view all users associated with your account.


     
  3. Click on the drop-down arrow next to the Edit button.
  4. Choose Delete from the options.
  5. A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm that you want to delete the user. Click Yes to confirm. 


If your employee is set as the primary admin on your account, make sure to transfer the primary admin role to your name before removing them.
 

In recovering an account, QuickBooks will require information such as driver's license and passport details for verifying an account to ensure the highest level of security and to comply with regulatory requirements.
