Hello userrose-cindy7,

I love that you've been using QuickBooks Desktop and are considering QuickBooks Online as you look at moving into the realm of cloud platforms! QuickBooks Online is a great option for many business owners, and I'd be happy to go over how managing multiple companies works for that version of the software.

In QuickBooks Desktop, I know you're probably used to being able to create an unlimited amount of company files with your single subscription. QuickBooks Online works a bit differently: one QuickBooks Online subscription equals one set of company data. This means that if you'd like to have more than one company, it means having more than one subscription.

That being said, it's possible to use the same login credentials for each company so that you can easily switch between them. To do that, what you'll want to do when creating a second company or any others beyond that through the QuickBooks Online website is choose Already have an Intuit account? Sign In once you've picked the plan you want, then enter your login details for the first company you created to continue the process and link the two subscriptions. When the subscriptions are linked, it's a simple matter of clicking the Gear icon, then Switch Company in the account to go to another.

For your reference, here's an article about making the switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online should you still decide to go that route: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online. Here's another useful article to prepare you for the changes: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online

Let me know if you have further questions about that!
