When you open products and services and type In a part number how come it won’t pick up products in purchasing description

Welcome to the Community! It's great to see that you're making use of QuickBooks Online's products and services to keep track of inventory. I can help shed some light on searching for an item in this menu. 

When in the Products and Services menu, the system will search the Name and Sales Description fields when you enter something into the search bar. In order to have the product appear in your search, the part number will need to be in one of those two fields instead of the Purchasing Description field. This appears to be due to the system considering the purchasing information to be for internal use only, and so the customer facing information is the criteria that the search engine looks for. I recommend editing the product to include the part number in either the Name or Sales Description field. 

I can see how this could be a bit of work if you have a large number of inventory items to edit, so if you have a chance I recommend submitting some Feedback to our product development team if this is something that you would like to see added to the product.
