Hello!

I’m 24hrs into QuickBooks, and for now the one question I have is how do I calculate my GST/PST collected vs paid out for my upcoming end of year report?

Thank you!

Hi Montrealer,

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online provides several reports to save you time and provide you with all the information you need.  I'd be glad to help!

There's different reports that you can review and customize to your specifications.  You'll also be able to view the tax collected on sales and paid on purchases in the sales tax module.  Here's how:

1. From the left navigation menu, click Taxes and then the Sales Tax tab at the top of the page

2. You'll see the amounts for the Sales Tax Agency in the appropriate block

3. If you need to adjust the date, scroll down and in the To File section click on Prepare Return

4. Enter the Start and End Date

Note:  You'll only have the ability to enter the Start Date if you haven't filed a return yet

From the Sales Tax Center, you can also click on the drop-down arrow on the Reports tab to review specific reports.  I'd also suggest reviewing the GST/HST Summary and the Transaction Detail by Tax Code reports.  You can enter the titles in the search bar on the reports list.  Select the date range and review the customization options as well.  Click on the Customize button at the top of the report and make any selections as you see necessary and then hit Run Report.  To drill down further, click on the small Gear at the top of the report, click on Filters and checkbox your choices, then Run Report.
