Question

Why are my workpapers blank for 2019, despite having plenty of 2019 transactions?

I'm using QBO for the first time, completing my year-end. I've pulled in and reconciled all the transactions, and everything looks good, but my workpapers for 2019 are blank. Any ideas why this is?

Hey eric35,

It's great having you as part of the QuickBooks Online family! Your first year-end with the software is a huge milestone, and the system is designed to streamline this process to make it as easy as possible. Workpapers are a powerful feature, which includes some protections to ensure you won't lose your work. I'll be happy to get this sorted out with you.

By design, Workpapers will not change automatically. This ensures your hard work won't go to waste, and gives you the opportunity to review new date before it's reflected in your WorkPapers. Changes can be accepted in just a couple easy steps:

  1. Select Workpapers from your Accountant Tools or from the Action dropdown from your client list.
  2. Select the desired tax year.
  3. Click Accept changes to see the most current data, or View changes to review them.

This is what the option will look like:

With this, I'm confident you'll be all set to complete your Workpapers. Don't hesitate to get in touch if there's anything else I can assist you with.
