Hello HV4,

Glad to have you connect with us in the Community. I'm glad to learn you're using QuickBooks to help manage your employees' taxes. Rest assured, I'll be happy to share more info about printing T4s in QuickBooks.

The Social Insurance Number is hidden for security reasons, but if you need to retrieve it, you can find it on a Record of Employment form by following these steps:

  1. Go to Payroll and select Employees.
  2. Select the employee whose SIN you want to view.
  3. Select the edit pencil icon next to Employment to edit the employee.
  4. In the Status drop-down menu, change the status to Terminated. This will be temporary.
  5. Select any Reason for status change, enter the hire date and today’s date for the termination date.
  6. Select Done.
  7. Select Yes when prompted to create the employee’s Record of Employment.
  8. Select View and look to box 8 on the right to find the SIN.

Switch employee's status back to active

After recording the SIN, you will need to switch the employee's status back to active:

  1. From the Employees tab, change the Active employees drop down to All employees.
  2. Select the employee you'd like to reactivate.
  3. Select the edit pencil icon next to Employment to edit the employee.
  4. In the Status drop-down menu, change the status to Active.
  5. Select Done.

Give this a try and let me know how you make out. I'll be one message away in case you have other questions.
