Hello info1749,

Welcome to the Community. QuickBooks is a robust program that helps you manage your accounting. I'll be happy to provide the info you need so you can get back to doing what you enjoy.

Based on the details you've provided, I recommend converting your data from Quicken to QuickBooks using the conversion options provided in this article here. Once you've successfully converted your data, you can open the file in QuickBooks. In case you need additional assistance with this, I recommend contacting our support team. You can contact our support team by dialing 1-833-317-2226.  A specialist will be able to share your screen and help you get to the bottom if this ASAP. To find out more about our hours of operation, check out this link here.

You're more than welcome to keep me posted on how you make out. I'll be one message away in case you need additional support. Otherwise, I wish you a great rest of the week.

Do you need to migrate data from Quicken 2012 to QB Online?

yes. Thats exactly it. Do the quicken files need to be converted or will QBooks recognize the existing file?

QB Online CA version only offers a free conversion from Sage 50, Xero, and Acomba. You may prepare a new blank QB Online CA version

https://quickbooks.grsm.io/Canada

https://quickbooks.grsm.io/CFIB

then you may have 2 ways to migrate data

1. Prepare your Quicken data in XLS/CSV format and utilize an importer tool

https://transactionpro.grsm.io/qbo

2. Purchase a 3rd party conversion service.
