Migrating transaction data

My organization is returning to Quickbooks after using a different accounting software for several years. We would like to import our old transaction data into QBO. However, it seems that I can only import 3 or 4 fields of data, not including the GL codes. The QBO support confirmed this problem and suggested we use a third party app. Has anyone found a solution to this issue? Seems fundamental that one should be able to import GL codes with the transactions.

Yes, Awcdh. We can only import 3 to 4 fields in QuickBooks Online. The platform is continually developing, and feedback from users like you plays an essential role in shaping future updates. Although some features are unavailable, there are workarounds or third-party solutions that can help you achieve your goals.

I understand the importance of having the ability to import fields for General Ledger codes. However, this feature is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. I recommend providing feedback to our product developer to bring this matter to their attention.

Follow the steps below:

  1. You can go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under the Profile column, press the Feedback button.
  3. Write your product suggestion, then click Next.

Our Product Development team receives your statements (QBO) through the feature request link: QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

Alternatively, we can look for a third-party application that can provide the flexibility to import comprehensive transaction data and ensure your financial records are complete.

Additionally, to enhance your QuickBooks experience, I suggest checking these valuable resources on best practices for categorizing and reconciling accounts.

If you have any further concerns or questions regarding migrating data or any other QuickBooks-related concerns, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm still here to assist you.

@Awcdh

You can use an importer tool as a workaround.
