Greetings! @SuzanaCS. We are thrilled to have you join our Community space. I'll ensure to provide information regarding your e-invoicing concern in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

As of the information available, QuickBooks Online (QBO) does not have an e-invoicing feature specifically for Malaysia. However, QBO users in Malaysia can consider using third-party solutions to integrate with the Malaysian e-invoicing portal.

On the other hand, QBO supports thousands of third-party applications for all functional needs, including invoicing apps. Visit the Intuit App Center and enter a keyword in the search bar to explore the options.

Here's how:

  1. On the left panel, click Apps.
  2. Go to the Find Apps tab.
  3. Use the search bar to look for an app.

In addition, you can wait until the end of December 2024 before considering your options. While waiting for updates, QBO users can review the link on managing invoices in QBO: Create invoices in QuickBooks Online.

I'm also adding these links for future reference in managing progress invoices and payments in QuickBooks:

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we implement this new feature. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible experience in the future. If you require further assistance with managing your invoices, please tag my name in the comment section. Have a great day ahead!

@SuzanaCS

You have to wait for third-party connectors to integrate with QBO.

Any updates / recommendations on third party apps that support e-invoicing for Malaysia?

Does QBO have any plans to do direct implementation?

August 13, 2024

We're unable to provide the specific application for e-invoicing, Catherine. Let me show you how to look for one instead for seamless invoice processing.

Several applications can be linked with QuickBooks Online to make your business process more efficient. Here's how to find one within the product:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Apps from the left pane and head to the Find apps page.
  3. Enter a keyword from the Search field.

After that, proceed to the following for the downloading and integration process:

  1. Select the app of your choice.
  2. Click on Get App Now. The button will display Opt-in Now if it's in beta testing and Learn More if it requires you to connect the app from within their system.
  3. Ensure to authorize the app to connect to your QBO.
  4. Observe the remaining instructions carefully to link and set up the app settings.

Alternatively, you can visit this link to explore other options: QuickBooks App Store | Online Tools to Power Your Business.

On the other hand, we currently don't have updates regarding the direct implementations of the e-invoicing feature in QuickBooks. Hence, I recommend sending feedback to our product engineers. They might incorporate your suggestions when working with future product updates, considering their benefits in enhancing customer experience.

Moreover, consider scanning these materials to show your customer their outstanding balances and for guidance on recording their payments manually:

Please know we're just around to respond to other inquiries about processing invoices electronically in QuickBooks Online. We'll be pleased to share additional information and resources at any time.

May I know the exact launching date for Quickbooks' E-Invoicing system that complies to the Malaysian LHDN? It is getting too close the the July 2025 deadline.

May 19, 2025

Hello there, asislklim.

I completely understand your concern with the e-invoicing deadline coming up soon. QuickBooks Online (QBO) Malaysia is officially launching the e-invoicing feature starting May 12, 2025, initially impacting about 1,000 customers as part of a beta rollout.

As of today, May 19, 2025, the feature has been set up, and the feature will begin rolling out to all Malaysian customers, both new and existing users.

I suggest setting up your e-invoicing in advance to prepare for when the feature is active in your QBO account.

First, verify whether you are required to set up sales tax; if so, please configure your sales tax settings accordingly. You may also need to obtain a digital certificate in the future to comply with LHDN requirements.

Once done, you can now set up your e-invoicing. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to Accounts & Settings, then go to Sales and select e-invoicing.
  2. Click Enable, then hit Save.
  3. You’ll be prompted to enable sales tax. Select Enable if you’re required to collect sales tax.
  4. You’ll need to acknowledge and agree to Intuit sharing the information you provide with Sovos Compliance LLC and select Continue.
  5. You'll need to enter the following: Your business name, SST ID( if you collect sales tax ), Business Registration Number (BRN), Sales Tax Registration ( TIN ), and your Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification ( MSIC ) Code.
  6. Next, connect to LHDN via the MyInvois portal:
  7. To complete the connection to LHDN, return to your QBO account, enable e-invoicing in the Accounts & Settings under Sales, and follow the on-screen instructions.

For more details about the process, refer to this article: How to set up e-invoicing in QBO - Malaysia.

Additionally, I'll provide this resource to guide you in managing invoice payments in QBO: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

We are always available if you have any further concerns regarding e-invoices or any QuickBooks-related issues. Please reply to this thread. Have a great day ahead, asislklim.
