Question

Shift-Command-B randomly launches QuickBooks while I'm working in another program (Mac)

Hi,

QuickBooks will sometimes launch when I use the keyboard shortcut "Shift-Command-B" in another program. So far, it has happened while working in Final Cut Pro X, Keynote, and Adobe Illustrator.

Does anyone have an idea how to stop this from happening?

Hi @joemuscatello,

I'll handle this query for you.

Although there isn't a direct way to set a keyboard shortcut to open QuickBooks Online (QBO), I suggest viewing the Automator app and see if there's a shortcut assigned to open QBO. You can do this by going to your Applications folder, or using the keyboard shortcut Shift + Command + A.

Preset keyboard shortcuts for QuickBooks Online are available in this article: Keyboard shortcuts for QuickBooks Online. All keyboard shortcuts are listed by category, so it's easier for you to look for a certain key combination.

Have other questions in mind? Place them in the comments below, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks for your response, Ryan. Just to be clear, I'm using the QB desktop app, and not QBO, in case that makes a difference.

There isn't anything on my system that is automating the QB app and I don't have any shortcuts set to QB.

It seems like a bug in the system.

It goes like this:

QB is shut down completely and I'm working in another program (ex. Final Cut Pro.) Shift-Command-B is a shortcut in FCPX that I use all the time. When I use that shortcut in FCPX, it will sometimes randomly open the QB app.

And sometimes, if QB is already open, Shift-Command-B will open another instance of QB so there are 2 QB windows open.

Have you heard of this?
