Question

When I set up my account I only downloaded the 2024 register. I need to download 2023. How would I go about doing that?

Hi Lisa, thank you for reaching out! I completely understand how important it is to keep your financial data updated. Let’s work together to manually upload your 2023 transactions to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, ensuring you have everything you need to manage your finances effectively.

Start by identifying the oldest existing entry currently in your register to avoid duplicates. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings or the Gear icon and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the account you want to import the transactions into. Then, select View register.
  3. Locate the oldest recorded activity (usually the opening balance), then write down the date.

After that, download a CSV file of your 2023 transactions and review its format and size. Then, upload them to your QBO account. For a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to do this, check out these steps:

  1. From the Transactions menu, select Bank transactions.
  2. Choose the tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  3. Click the Link account dropdown, then select Upload from file
  4. Select the Drag and drop or select files option and choose the file you downloaded from your bank. Then, hit Continue.
  5. In the QuickBooks Account dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into and click Continue.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then, Continue.
  7. Select the transactions you would like to import and then hit Continue.
  8. Click Yes, then Done.

Once you have all your bank records, review and categorise them. Then, reconcile your accounts so they always match your monthly statements.

If you need any more help with managing bank transactions in QBO, just let me know in the comments. I’m always here to assist you. Have a great day, Lisa!
