Thanks for taking the time to post here in the Community, robinmaui. I'm here to ensure you can create and log in to your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account without any error.

You may have other QBSE accounts linked to that email address used by your client to send the invite. It could be the reason why you're prompted that the user name is in use.

If this is the case, I recommend accessing your old account when accepting the invite. Here's how:

  1. Open the invite email and select the link.
  2. If you already have a QuickBooks Self-Employed account, select Sign in.
  3. Go to the Clients tab.
  4. Follow the steps to fill out and submit your W-9.

In case you don't have any QBSE logins, we can ask your client to re-send the invite to your new email. Make sure to notify them to change the information associated with your profile. This way, the invite will be sent to the new one. You can send this article to reference: Invite a Contractor to add their tax info.

Once you receive the new invitation, you can start filling out a W-9 and view your 1099-MISC.

If the issue persists, I highly suggest contacting our QBSE Support Team. They're equipped with tools to check the cause. It'll also allow them to submit a ticket to our engineering team to alert them about the issue if necessary.

Please feel free to reach out to me anytime if you require further assistance with setting up your account. My goal is to ensure that you view the form. Take care and stay safe!
