You've come to the right place, brownhound.

I know a quick and easy way to add the subtotal line on your estimate, so let me lend you a hand in taking care of this.

Let me walk you through the steps on how to add it:

  1. Click the Plus (+) icon.
  2. Select Estimate.
  3. Enter all the necessary details on the estimate.
  4. Click the Add Subtotal button.
  5. Select Save and close.

That should do it. With these resources, I'm confident you'll be all set and ready to go with your estimates.

I hope this response finds you with a smile. Keep in touch if there's anything else I can do for you. I always have your back and am always happy to help. Have a great day!

Specific need: to apply a discount to food & beverage Subtotal, while other items are added to the estimate without adding to the discounted Subtotal. So, the Subtotal line may fall in the middle of the estimate, if that makes sense. This works only when in Windows. I often use the app on iPad using iOS. A Subtotal line added in windows shows when I open in the app, but doesn’t update with changes. Additionally, I can’t find a way to add the Subtotal line when creating the estimate in iOS app.

Hi brownhound,

At the moment, we're unable to add the subtotal line using the iOS app. Though, you can use your regular browser to add the subtotal item.

I'd recommend sending feedback to our product engineers here: https://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/. I’ll also share this idea with them. Suggestions help us create features based on what users need for their companies.

We appreciate your feedback. If there's anything else you need help with QuickBooks please feel free to leave a comment below.

My Quickbooks Online does not look like any of these screens. Most of  these answers are from 2019. Can someone post how to add subtotals to estimates with the 2024 Online version please?

Thanks for sharing your concern here in the Community, @kherron.

Let me outline the steps to accomplish adding a subtotal line in the estimate in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

To add subtotals to estimates in QuickBooks Online, you can follow these steps:

1. Access your QuickBooks Online account and click on + New.

2. Under the Customers column, select Estimates.

3. Create a new estimate by filling in the necessary information.

4. At the bottom of the Product or Service section, click the drop-down arrow next to Add Product and Service.

5. From there, you will see the option to Add subtotal.

6. Click on it, and you can now add a subtotal to your estimate.

In addition, here’s a comprehensive guide on how you can convert your estimate directly into an invoice. When you convert it to an invoice, the estimate and the invoice are linked, which keeps your books accurate. You can also learn how to personalize and add specific information to your sales forms:
