I would like to add a field on my estimates and invoices so I can have a bill to and a service address. There is an option to have a ship to but that does not apply to my kind of business.

May I know what specific editable field you are referring to, and what kind of information you want to show on the invoice? In QuickBooks, you can use a custom field to add a field for a Bill to and a Service address on your estimate or invoice. I'm here to guide you through the process, Cturtle1100

To set this up, you can follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, and select Custom fields.
  2. Click on the Add field.
  3. Type in a name in the Name field.
  4. Use the Data type dropdown menu to select the type of custom field.
  5. Select the category whether it’s Customer, Transaction, Vendor, or Project.
  6. In the Select forms section, check the boxes for the forms where you want the custom field to appear.
  7. (Optional) To show the custom field on printed and delivered forms, turn on Print on form. Otherwise, it’ll only appear in QuickBooks Online.
  8. Click Save.

Please be aware that there is no restriction on the number of transactions that can include custom fields. However, there is a limitation on the number of custom fields allowed per transaction. If you're using Simple Start, you can have 1 custom field on every transaction, and you can pick from 100 values in your dropdown list.

On the other hand, you can create 4 custom fields on sales forms when using QuickBooks Online Plus and Essentials. To give you more information about the difference, read this article: Add Custom Fields to Sales Forms and Purchase Orders in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, learn how to record payments to connect them to the invoice to balance your account. I've got this article for you: Record Invoice Payments in QuickBooks Online.

To enhance the ability to manage a wider variety of data points and create a diverse range of custom fields for increased customization and optimization, consider upgrading to QuickBooks Online Advanced to maintain detailed, organized, and accessible financial records.
