Hi there, @kkeen4146.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community for support.
When we start seeing performance issues with QuickBooks, we need to narrow down where the issue is coming from exactly. This can be the software itself, or it can be company file related. Let's try some basic troubleshooting steps to help narrow this issue down.
For the QuickBooks Software:
Repairing QuickBooks resolves most performance issues you currently experienced. To do so, let's close all windows of your QuickBooks Desktop after creating a backup copy of your company file.
After doing so, follow the steps below on how you can repair your QuickBooks Desktop:
- Go to Start.
- Select Control Panel.
- Choose Programs and Features.
- Click Uninstall a Program.
- Tap on QuickBooks.
- Hit Uninstall/Change.
- Click on Next.
- Select Repair.
- Tap Finish.
Once done, you'll need to restart your computer so the changes you made with QuickBooks will take effect. After that, open your QuickBooks Desktop and perform your work.
For company file:
Let’s run the Verify and Rebuild tools. The Verify Data will identify any data issues within your company file. Then, the Rebuild tool will self-resolve it. Check the steps below:
Verify data:
- Go to File, then Utilities and choose Verify Data.
If it will detect an error, proceed and Rebuild your data:
- Go back to File menu and then Utilities and select Rebuild Data.
- Choose OK if you’ll receive a message to back-up your company file.
- After creating the back-up file, the Rebuild Data utility will run automatically.
- Click OK when you get the message Rebuild has completed.
