Upon checking, there's an ongoing investigation about the error message you received when filing the 1099. Rest assured that our Product engineers are already informed about this and working on solving this unexpected behavior. As of now, we're unable to provide a specific timeframe for when a fix is available. You can also contact our Customer Support team, so you'll be added to the list of affected users. This way, you can get notified about the investigation updates and when a fix is available. Here's how you can reach our support:

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to Help (?), then select the Search tab.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Select the topic to connect with the right expert or choose Ask about something else and provide a brief discussion of your concern.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Choose a way to connect with us:
  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a callback from the next available expert.

 

In the meantime, you can follow the following steps for you to ensure you can complete your work:

 

  1. Check your company settings first, then review your company's business name for invalid characters or missing fields, and make sure your Employer Identification Number (EIN) or tax ID is filled out and properly formatted.
  2. Check the information on the first step of the Prepare 1099 workflow for accuracy.
  3. If you identified an issue where tax IDs didn't save properly, you can re-enter and save it.
