When I create a new rule, the "add rules details" limits me to only the Description in the "When" variable.  Why am I not see the other options like Bank Memo, Money in/out, etc.?

Welcome to the Community, @GH_WI. I'm glad you reached out for help with adding a New Rule in QuickBooks Desktop. Let me share my insight about where to find those options so we can get you set up smoothly.

In Express Mode, you'll only see the Description option when you create rules. But if you switch to Advanced Mode, you'll find the Memo option under the Description drop-down. Plus, you can choose the Money In/Out option in the For: field at the top. See the screenshot below:

To change modes, here's how:

  1. Open the Banking menu.
  2. Hover over Bank Feeds and select Change Bank Feeds Mode.

  3. On the My Preferences page, choose Advanced Mode.
  4. Finally, click OK to save your changes.

However, if you're already in Advanced Mode and still not seeing those options, I recommend checking out the troubleshooting steps in this resource: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop. This guide will help you fix any underlying issues with your data, ensuring that you can access all the options available for creating rules.
